I just returned from a fabulous 12 days away from everything.
Well, almost everything.
It started with a girls weekend, and ended spending some really quality time with my mom.
For those of you playing at home, it was time to get the band back together. And by band, I mean the book club known as "The Juggabees!"
Two of our founding members moved to warmer climates in the fall, and even though we stay in touch, we hadn't seen them since October!!!!
That was just too long!
So, we planned a getaway. A weekend where we could lay in the warm sands of Florida, and relax, and be awesome!
The plan was 10 of us would descend on Florida for a crazy little getaway including a Tiki Booze Cruise. As luck would have it, it ended up being only 5 of us.
But we persevered, knowing we had to carry on the torch of the Juggabees, and made those who couldn't attend proud.
We made good choices!
We almost broke a blender--there was no smoke, but it did start to smell a little hot. I'd call that a win!
We talked, we reminisced, we laughed, we drank...all the things we are really good at.
We did not get matching tattoos...that's for another trip when we all can be there. LOL!
And, we watched the Barbie Movie.
After a lovely 2 days, it was time to say so long (not goodbye). We met at the airport, where I was dropped off in the cell phone lot, and picked up by my mom.
Now, I've mentioned my mom in this blog before (Hi Mom!).
This lady is an honorary Juggabee, although we did not invite her to our weekend.
That would be weird.
She is also a bad ass! (sorry Mom, but you are.)
Every year she spends time down in Florida soaking up the sunshine, and this year, I spent some extra time with her.
It was a little chilly by Florida standards--highs in the 60s, and lows in the 40s. But for me, it was heaven.
There was no work, no laundry, no making dinners, no picking up kids, no adulting at all--well, except for some adult beverage partaking.
Ok...so I'm currently detoxing, but whatever. I was on vacation, and those calories don't count.
After an awesome week and just hanging out with Mom, it was time to come home. Refreshed, rejuvenated, and feeling great.
Except for my back, which decided to act up so badly that I immediately made an appointment with my favorite PT Doc for when I returned. It's already starting to feel better.
Now, it's back to the grind. Yet, it doesn't really feel like it. I feel strong, and ready to kick some ass.
Upon returning, I signed up for the Vermont 10 Miler running race in November. I'm making plans to start cycling, so I can get ready to ride the Erie Canal trail in the fall, but also possibly ride the Tour de Staten Island with my brother in law in April. A 50 mile ride around Staten Island sounds kinda fun. I'm actually looking forward to getting back on the bike. And I've started swimming again.
Holy cow...could a triathlon be on the horizon?
I've also joined an online group of women who are dealing with all the fun of peri-menopause. I'm hoping to learn some "tricks" to make this transition a little more manageable.
Because honestly...I'm not really even a fan of myself.
But a little time away, has given me some perspective, and I'm liking myself a whole lot more than when I left.
Time does fly when you are having fun. And I had a lot of fun! It may have been just what the doctor ordered.
And I'm the doctor. 😂
